HISTORY

• St. Sealtiel Pest Extermination (SSPEX) started as a “single proprietorship” business venture registered under the name of owner and operator Joselito U. Aquino.

• Born and raised in Davao City, Joselito U. Aquino earned both his B. Sc. in Agriculture degree and his M. Sc. in Horticulture degree from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños, thereby the assurance of the requisite technical background and expertise in the pesticide industry.

• During his second employment stint with Jardine Agchem (a Division of Jardine Davies, Inc.) in 1996 as Public Health & Product Development Manager, Joselito U. Aquino was introduced to the Pest Control Industry - and the business itself - in the Philippines.

• Due to the impact of the currency crisis of 1997, Jardine’s higher management decided to close down the budding Public Health & Veterinary Products Section in early 1998, causing Joselito U. Aquino’s redundancy from the company.

• Entrusting his fate to his Creator, Joselito U. Aquino chose entrepreneurship over re-employment and registered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) the chosen business name “St. Sealtiel Pest Extermination (SSPEX)” in January 1998, but began its actual operations two months later in Metro Manila.

• When asked to explain about the chosen business name  “St. Sealtiel Pest Extermination”, the explanation is : “St. Sealtiel” is one of the seven guardian angels tasked by God to guide and watch over the lives of all human beings born on a Thursday – and the owner himself born on a Thursday, chose the name as such as he believes pest control service provision in part will also concern itself with the watching over and protection of health and property.

• At a time when business everywhere in the country was rated from ‘shaky’ to ‘bad’, SSPEX proved itself a reliable service provider to its clients and grew fast amidst competition and prevailing financial difficulties. In fact, most of the new clients added to the list were due to endorsements from satisfied current clients themselves.

• In 2005, a decision was arrived at to incorporate the business under Penttwo Ventures Inc., which included corporate farming activities in Davao del Sur and the pest control operations in the NCR and in Davao City and the business was renamed as SSPEX Sanitation Systems to now include sanitation service provision to clients, when needed, because the company believes that the first line of defense in pest management is “sanitation”. Late 2014, the Board decided to establish the Cavite Branch of  SSPEX Sanitation Systems.

• Today, SSPEX Sanitation Systems stands at par and in professional competition with all the other Urban Pest Management Operators and has made for itself a name in the Public Health Industry in Metro Manila.

• General Manager Joselito U. Aquino is Past President of the Pest Control Association of the Philippines (PCAP), Inc. - 2007; Past President of the Philippine Association of Professional Fumigators, Inc. (PAPFI) – 2009-2010, Charter President of the Philippine Federation of Pest Management Operators’ Associations (PFPMOA), Inc. – 2007-2008 – a national federation of the country’s six (6) major Pest Management associations organized and designed to serve as the self-regulatory body for the urban pest management industry, which has been recently recognized by the Food and Drug Administration of the Department of Health by virtue of a standing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). He was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of PEST SUMMIT 2012-Boracay, also a recent international convention on Urban Pest Management that was held at The Ecoville Resort & Convention Center in Boracay, Aklan.

• SSPEX Sanitation Systems is now a registered member of the following : Philippine Association of Professional Fumigators, Inc. (PAPFI), the Mindanao Urban Pest Management Association (MUPMA), Inc., the South Luzon Pest Management Operators’ Association of the Philippines (SL-PMOAP), Inc., and North Central Luzon Pest Management Operators' Association (NCLPMOAI).
